Areas We Serve
We work out of one office, at 1321 Murfreesboro Pike in Nashville, but our clients come from all over Middle Tennessee. A rear-end crash in Smyrna, a fall in a Franklin store, and a dog bite in Gallatin are all governed by the same Tennessee law, and we handle each one the same way.

Tennessee law
Tennessee Rules That Apply No Matter Where You Were Hurt
Tennessee gives most injured people one year from the date of the injury to settle or file suit (Tenn. Code Ann. § 28-3-104). That deadline is the same in Clarksville as it is in Murfreesboro. A lawsuit is usually filed in the county where the injury happened or where the person at fault lives, which is why local cases can end up in courts from Gallatin to Franklin.
Tennessee also uses modified comparative fault. You can recover as long as you were less than 50% responsible, but your award is reduced by your share of the fault. Insurers know this rule well. Expect them to argue you were partly to blame, because every percentage point they shift onto you lowers what they pay.
There are also limits on some damages. Tennessee generally caps non-economic damages, like pain and suffering, at $750,000, or $1 million for catastrophic injuries such as paralysis or severe burns (Tenn. Code Ann. § 29-39-102). Medical bills and lost wages are not capped.
A smaller firm
Why a Smaller Firm Works Better for Injured People
Large injury firms run on volume. Your file gets handed to whoever has room for it, and you may not talk to a lawyer until a settlement offer shows up. We built Selvidge Injury Law the other way around. We take fewer cases, so the attorney on your case knows your name, your injuries, and what you need the money to cover. When you call, someone who knows your file picks up. That matters most in the first few months, when medical treatment, missed work, and insurance calls all hit at once.

Meet Your Attorneys
Adam W. Selvidge founded Selvidge Injury Law to give injured people a more personal kind of representation than they’d get at a large firm. He has practiced since 2015, is licensed in Tennessee and Mississippi, and has been named a Super Lawyers Rising Star. He works alongside attorney Shelby Hamilton and the rest of our team. Their results include a $6.45 million traumatic brain injury settlement and a $1 million trucking accident settlement. See more on our Case Results page.
